For the planning of a new plantation, we have to consider both the location of the field and the varieties of the plants.
- Location: The field has to be in a location, where the plants benefit from the sun and the air. For example, the grounds on a hillside are the most proper for the planting of a vineyard, because are more protected from the bad weather.
- Soil: The structure and the chemical compound of the soil is very important for the growing of the vine and the grapes used for vinification. For example, potassium affects the sugars and calcium the aromatic substances.
- Plants’ varieties: Very decisive for the selection of the varieties are the adaptability of the varieties which are already growing in the same area.
